Student Spotlight on Caroline Davis
September 27, 2017
A native of Kentucky, Caroline Davis graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2015 with a BA in Community and Leadership Development. She is now in the Master of Public Administration program here at UGA.
Davis has a passion for economic and community development work at the state and local levels, and admires organizations such as the Georgia Regional Commissions, the Georgia Department of Economic Development, the Georgia Department of Community Affairs and the Appalachian Regional Commission.
Her introduction to Archway came when she attended a presentation by Operations Coordinator Sharon Liggett, after which she was able to shadow on meetings in Habersham County and gain a love for the work that Archway carries out on a daily basis.
Davis was granted an assistantship with Archway for the 2017-2018 school year, but has been a part of Archway since May 2017. She has worked on projects for Candler, Hart, Pulaski and Washington counties.
In her work for Candler County, Davis wrote a report regarding workforce development for the community. She assisted with updating the Healthcare Asset Resource Guide for Washington County, and is currently working on a literacy guide for ages Birth-8th grade in Pulaski County as well as a few small projects in Hart County.
Davis appreciates the support that the Archway staff has shown her since she started with the program, especially with her work in the communities.
“The Archway staff is incredibly supportive and I’m grateful for all of the encouragement and guidance they’ve already provided me,” Davis said. “I’m learning so much about hands-on community development through the various avenues of local government, and it would be impossible to pick a favorite project or experience because they all have, and are, contributing to my personal development as someone who aspires to work in the field professionally post-graduation.”
