Cari Goetcheus, associate professor in the College of Environment + Design, brought 14 graduate and undergraduate students from her Rural Preservation course to tour Hart County in October. The group saw the history and beef production at Dick Phillips’ Wakefield Farms, had a great lunch at Market 50 and then finished the day out with a visit to the poultry operation at JSK Farms.
The goal for the visit was to learn more about tourism, economic development, agriculture and history in Hart County. Students will ultimately use the information to develop marketing materials for agriculture’s impact in Hart County in addition to a comprehensive agritourism plan for Hart County. A big thank you to all our hosts in Hart for helping make the visits possible!
