Sharon Liggett joined the UGA Public Service and Outreach, Archway Partnership faculty in January 2012 and currently serves as a coordinator of operations. Over the years, she has served as community-based public service and outreach faculty, supervisor of community-based faculty, interim co-director of the Georgia Initiative for Community Housing (GICH), and now coordinates community-university initiatives, programs, and projects. She oversees a diverse outreach and engagement portfolio in education, housing, health, arts and sciences, law, social work, and family and consumer sciences.
Sharon comes to Archway with a well-established career in the public sector through government and nonprofit arenas. She has consulted on rural tourism, community redevelopment and sustainable communities’ initiatives. Prior to consulting, she was president and CEO of the Tallahassee Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. Additionally, Sharon has years of experience with local, regional, state and federal governments. She served on the staff of two Florida governors, as deputy chief of staff for both U.S. Senator Bob Graham and U.S. Rep. Jane Harman, as well as special advisor to the president and advisor to the special envoy for the Americas in the White House.
Over the years, she has served on numerous community boards of directors and governmental committees. Sharon earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in international relations from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida and a Master of Public Administration degree from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida.
